No doubt about it! Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers secures top position in NFL Network's Top 100 Players
The complete results of the voting for the Top 100 Players of 2012 are in and it was no surprise when the number one player in the league was named.
Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, was voted as the best player of 2012 making a meteoric rise from number 11 after the 2010 season in which he won the Super Bowl.
This year though Rodgers was even better and even though he did not win the Super Bowl he showed that his game is above any of his peers.
The quarterback’s achievements last year were massive as he almost led the Green Bay Packers to a perfect regular season campaign with just a single loss against Kansas City Chiefs in week 14 keeping the Packers from perfection.
Rodgers was voted in as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) this year by a huge margin and his number one ranking in the Top 100 is thoroughly deserved.
Passing for 4,643 yards the quarterback sent 45 touchdown passes with just six interceptions in the 15 games he started for Green Bay with a 122.5 National Football League (NFL) rating the highest for any quarterback last year.
He was the pulse of a record scoring Packers offence and performed at a level that was unmatched by any other quarterback.
Coming in second to Rodgers once again was New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees.
Brees had his own wonderful season and broke legendary quarterback, Dan Marino’s single season passing yards record, however, his achievements were not at the same level as that of Rodgers.
The Saints quarterback also came in a distant second in the voting for the league’s MVP.
Third place was secured by Detroit Lions wide receiver, Calvin Johnson while coming in fourth was New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, who dropped from the number one spot he had secured in 2010.
After what has been a brilliant 2011-12 campaign for Rodgers, Packers fans will be expecting more of the same in the upcoming season.
With Rodgers calling the shots in offence it is likely that Green Bay will once again be favourites to challenge for the Super Bowl.
