The Liverpool defender expects his side to give the same level of respect to every team they face in the FA Cup and is wary of Brighton’s ability to cause an upset.
Liverpool may be struggling in the Barclays Premier League when it comes to claiming a top four spot and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. Yet, at the same time the Merseyside club have been in fine form when it came to the domestic cup competitions.
The Reds have already secured a place for themselves in the final of the Carling Cup. Liverpool dumped Premier League high-fliers Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
However, the side will have their immediate attention focused on Brighton in the FA Cup. The Reds had to overcome their fiercest rivals, Manchester United, in the fourth round of the competition.
Carragher, though, knows the potential of an upset having suffered a fair few over the years he has played for the club. He said, “There are no easy games in the FA Cup – I could tell you that from the teams we’ve been knocked out by over the years.”
He continued by admitting it would not be fair for the club to exit the competition after their recent performances.
The Liverpool number 23 said, “It would be disappointing if we were to go out having knocked out Manchester United out of the last round.”
Liverpool has a chance of progressing into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup if they can overcome http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brighton-c38685 on the weekend, the prospect of which is exciting for Carragher.
“It’s a massive game for us and if we win we’ll be into the quarter-finals, and if you do well there then you’re at Wembley. It certainly keeps the season going.” before continuing, “lower league teams can play like they’ve got nothing to lose when they come to Anfield because they haven’t.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager, Kenny Dalglish, has made a habit of fielding strong sides in the cup competitions this terms and one can expect him to do the same this weekend as well.
That does not mean that there won’t be any changes to the line-up and Carragher could expect to find himself in the starting line-up.
