No embryo only black circle at 6 week ultrasound, I am very concerned!

I went to the doctor because I was spotting and am very concerned because they didn't see an embryo only the gestational sac. They said it could be to early to see the embryo. I am concerned that it might be a blighted ovum. They couldn't tell me either way. I really want this baby as we have been trying for a year and a half. I keep reading mixed reviews on this situation, please help!

Was the gestational sac described as measuring bigger then your dates? this is often said with an anembyonic pregnancy (blighted ovum) also. I had one of these several years ago, I'd never heard of it until it happened to me.

I hope your next scan give you good news, did they rebook you for a week or two weeks?
