So finals in Victoria are basically all at the MCG, bar there is the agreement if there are two finals in week one to play one at Telstra Dome.

  1. We don't have the capacity to hold enough people down at Skilled so no, it's not unfair.

We can get quite large crowds and a lot of people would miss out which would be unfair to the supporters.

  2. I think I have to agree with deedubya, my understanding is that the Cats had the option and went with the G so more of their supporters could attend.

  3. Yeah it sucks, Interstate sides get handed home finals( my mob have) games to appease the supporters, YET, Victorian supporters get screwed by Andy Pandy & his cohorts. It's definitely time the AFL started showing some consistency, as being equal to all, not just pandering to a select few

  4. I think its fair... There is no way that the Geelong ground would be able to hold in all the fans which means less revenue.

  5. Kev again you have answered your own question its all to do with contracts with the Melbourne Cricket Club and Telstra dome its unfortunate but its the way it is and we all have to live with it

  6. I reckon ALL FINALS should be played in Melbourne!!!!

It's where Footy began, and we should keep tradition.

  7. I so agree with anything you write on here Big Kev, It is unfair.

  8. The M.C.G. & The Dome are stadiums, all others are just footy grounds that lack the comforts for big crowds.

  9. I'm with deedubya on this one,why would a side like Geelong want to play in front of 30 thousand when they can play a final at the G in front of 90,000,plus get valuable playing time on the G where if they win will have to play the big one there anyway, also it would be negligent of the AFL to let a final that could attract a massive crowd be played below its capacity-not fair to the other fans and to the greatness of our game

  10. totally agree, but who cares, we showed this year that we can still kick everyone else's *** no matter where we play.

  11. I'm stoked that we're playing the Pies at the G and not the Cattery.  I want to be able to get GOOD tickets not something up the back of the pie stand on the hill.

Like Cook, I'm mystified why we're not playing them twice (at the G - one home, one away).  It seems to be the difference between $2m revenue and $300,000 revenue which just seems stupid (obviously the clubs don't get much of that now Waverley's gone as a threat to the MCC).

As for finals - Kardinia while a nice ground is just NOT suitable for anything other than a Freo final.  Let's go to the G and see the game properly.

  12. Yep I agree if u finish in the top 4 you deserve to play at least 1 final at your own Home ground.

  13. Basically it isn't fair, but for crowds that want to see the game, Geelong should play the games at the G. I don't think I would want to be the guy that couldn't get in the gate at Kardinia Park for a final, especially if I could ever get to Oz for the finals in September from Kansas.

If Kardinia Park held 50,000, and had lights, then I could see it, but only in a final against a non-Vic side.

  14. Yeah i think they said get home final if they go top 2

  15. Big Kev , oh dear, oh dear, oh dear......quick there is a facility here to delete your question.    Geelong CEO Brian Cook complained when the draw was annouced that the Cats were mystified as to why they were only drawn to play Collingwood once in '08 at the G.       Why would he have wanted to change those ideals, and have had  this years Preliminary final played at the Cattery .????   They won by 5 points, and the WORLDS "greatest stadium" was filled to capacity!!!! .     I have to repeat what I said answering  another question, Your suggestion is crazy, illogical, irrational, unreasonable and weak .    The AFL is a business, located in one of the WORLD'S major cities, with corporate partnerships , its not the VFL, SANFL or WAFL playing in toy towns on toy grounds like the CATTERY actually IS.......YOU should go and have a look, in fact , lets go there together and have lunch.    My shout, ..... I know I need to have a long chat with you !!      By the way , um ..NO I cannot possibly AGREE!...just making sure you understand that ...lol...

  16. It's bullshit hun and totally unfair

  17. For Aussies, yes.

  18. Unfair on whom, the fans or GFC? The swans could do the same thing if we want but we CHOOSE to play home finals at home. Surely this decision was made by Geelong and not the AFL.
