Question:

No hangover on beer?

I've noticed something. I never, ever get a horrible hangover on beer. One night, I had 3 Mickey's and 3 Miller light's in an hour and a half, and I was pretty much gone. I got a sickish feeling until about noon the next day but that was about it. However, I took 3 shots of absinth one night, puked twice, and was so sick the next morning I was still extremely dizzy and couldn't make the slightest movement without being nauseous- it took until about 5:00 pm to be completely gone. Is it something to do with the type of alcohol or what?

Oh, and no anti-alcohol lectures or comments either please, this is something I choose to do personally and I'm not going to listen to it anyway. Thanks for the help!

  1. I just completed my ServSafe Alcohol certification course. So, I learned something new... Your liver can only process one drink per hour. For beer, one drink is 12 ounces. So, if you want to drink twelve beers, then, you should plan on one per hour and being at the bar for half your day.

Also, mixing alcohol can cause the nausea and vomiting. I would stick to what you know or one drink Absinyth (which is illegal in the U.S.) can be made from wormwood. So, your body may have had a bad reaction to that. They have one that my cousin from the UK likes nicknamed Green Fairy. I won't touch the stuff! Alcohol derivative from wormwood can make you hallucinate. I'd stay away from that. But beer is grrrrrrrrrrrreat! lol

EDIT:  Bar foods are really good to coat your stomach prior to drinking. IE Pizza, wings, fries, etc. (that's what I learned in my ServSafe class anyway!)

  2. Beer can give you the worst hangover or none.

Check the ingredients on the can or bottle as it is now law to display these. If it has the basic beer ingredients then it is unlikely it will stay with you, but if it has the same ingredients plus unrecognized Latin names or E numbers, then expect the thick head .

Have you ever been out and drank Whisky and Coke and felt lousy next day and blamed the whisky? Try whisky and water, drink the same amount. get just as drunk, and the next day the ;hangover is totally different. Water  cures that one, the coke hangover requires paracetamol

  3. Im a waitress at a bar... I can tell you that every human body is different.. Something one person can tolerate, another cannot. Beer, wine has the same amount of alcohol as some spirits do (on a breathalizer, its all the same). Honestly, ive always noticed alot of my customers cannot take hard liquor at first. They have to drink up to it. Yager for instance, is a very thick liquor (I personally throw it up everytime It comes around) and many people cannot take it at first because its so thick and it doesnt settle well...

  4. It depends on a lot of different things...what did you eat or drink before drinking the beer  vs. before you drank the liquor?  The more hydrated you are before drinking alcohol then the less likely it is that you'll be hungover...however I think it also depends on the individual.  I can get hungover on either one...especially if I have a LOT of beer...wow...

  5. Some beers may give less of a hangover and a lot depends on what you do while you're drinking (eating food, following every glass of beer with water, not drinking beyond your tolerances) to ease a hangover
