  1. Check out your hot water heater. If it is electric check the fuse or circuit breaker to see if it has tripped. If it's tripped, reset it by pushing the lever all the way to off then back to on. If it is a gas heater look to see if the pilot light is burning. If it is not, read the directions next to red button on how to relight it. If you can't get it relit call a plumber. If you live in an apartment, call the apartment manager.

  2. By randomly I assume you mean suddenly.  There are a couple of possibilities.  If your water heater is gas fired, then it's possible that the pilot has just gone out, in which case you'll either have to light it yourself, or find some one to light it for you.  If it doesn't stay lit, then the thermocouple or the gas valve itself could be bad.   If it's an electric model, either the breaker has tripped, or the top element or the top thermostat is no good, and will have to be replaced.

  3. Probably something to do with the hot water heater. Depending on if you are in a detached single home, and are the homeowner, or if your renting you have a few options. If there's no hot water heater in your house, but you live in a townhome, or an apartment style building. You pay for home owner's association dues. Call their office, they should help you.

Then if you are in a detached house, then see if you have a home warranty. It costs $50 usually for someone to come out, but repair up to replacement is free. I definately reccomend that to homeowner's. Good luck!

  4. Your hot water heater has failed.  If it is an electric water heater you can check your fuse box, if it is gas there are a number of causes.  (i am assuming you live in a house)  if you live in an apartment building call the super.
