  1. 1) It's illegal.  Teachers cannot assign homework over a nationally celebrated holiday. (assuming you live in the US)

  2. why snow falls

    how it falls

    what it is made of.

  3. 1. Rest re-sharpens the brain.

    2. Vacations are the best times for pursuing constructive hobbies.

    3. Personal space, is required by one and all to develop in life.

  4. 1-The cold affects your brain so you can't think as well, so the essay would have a negative influence your grade.

2-We need to live and enjoy our livesand need breaks from school to be able to enjoy our fading youth.

3- It would be making a negative contribution to health. Instead of burning energy outside being active, assigning homework would keep us inside and so we wouldn't be burning the excess that we eat. The gains from this could be hazardous to health now or in the future.

  5. 1. Need time off, that is what winter break is for it's to catch up on rest and some zzz's...

    2. No help on the homework from the teacher. If you are on winter break how can you ask her for help?

I'm sorry I really can't think of a third one, I tried my best. Good luck. When is this due? How long have you had the assignment and how long does it have to be? 5 paragraphs?

  8. (1)  The time at the end of the year is usually between grading periods.  Work done at this time is too late for the Fall semester or grading period and too early for the Winter or Spring semester or grading period.  If this is for home schooling or a private school, then it might be considered cruel and unusual punishment, not a opportunity to keep the students sharp and at their best.

The origin of the term Break was to clearly define the separation of time periods during study.

    (2)  Lack of or modified access to appropriate resources.  This might include inability or less than optimum contact with school resources, libraries and librarians and the instructor.  In addition, the increase in Internet usage during the holiday season makes serious searches and use very slow and unproductive in comparison to regular "non-break" times.

    (3)  The student's access to computers and/or study space and time may be modified greatly during the holiday season.  Family duties and typically accepted visitation and celebrations, including church or religious functions are not always under the student's control.  What can be done in one 8 hour or four 3 hour sessions during the school year might take sixteen 1 hour sessions over many days during the break.  This is not conducive to effective teaching or study.

    (4)  The time period in question is usually considered the holiest time of the year.  In many religions it is a time to spend with family members and friends and share the blessings delivered by the Grace of Divinity.  An attempt to introduce school work into this period is very inappropriate.  It is an attempt to inject mundane routines into an otherwise special occasion.

It is under this matter that students usually consider Break to be "a pause or interval, as from schoolwork."  Some might go as far as to liken it to the term "Prison break."

Other than a few post graduate college students and professors, little educational activity usually takes place during this time.

In any case, what is so important as to require the student to do a project during the Winter Break period?  Is the teacher so poor or inexperienced as to not be able to cover this same material during regular school periods?  (you would be wise to leave these last questions out of your argument and save them if you lose your viewpoint and have to do the project).
