No increase in the prize money of the Malaysian event, Razak Cup hockey tournament
The competition's committee of Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) has decided not to increase the total prize money of MHF Tun Abdul Razak Cup hockey tournament and it will stay at its current amount of RM 32,000. It was confirmed by Hashim Mohamed Yusof,
the secretary of MHF who stated that there will not be any appendage in the prize money formation of the event.
The total prize money is divided into two stages, Division One and Division Two, where the Division One has a total amount of RM 22,000 and the Division Two has a total of RM 10,000.
In the competition, the winner of the Division One will earn a total amount of RM 10,000, while the runner-up and the third-placed teams will be awarded with RM 7,000 and RM 5,000, respectively.
While in the Division Two, the teams that will reach the winning podium will be attributed with almost half of the amount of the Division One teams as the winner of the Division Two will receive RM 5,000, while the runner-up and the third placed will be
awarded with RM 3,000 and RM 2,000 respectively.
The procession will be further see the MHF dividing the teams into two divisions and these five zones will be the North, South, Central, East and East Malaysia.
The East Malaysian zone is left with Sabah and Sarawak in the battle of the paragons, as Labuan and Brunei have initiated withdrawal.
Both the teams will collide in the finals of the competition. Each division will include eight teams.
“But Sallehin was offered a higher allowance and he went to play for them without getting a release from us. They fielded him over the weekend,” Rajamanickam, the Secretary of The Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association (KLHA).
KLHA has some reservations over several players’ release, who were seen in action in the qualifying stage over the weekend. It will be interesting to see how these players, who will be playing for their respective teams, will perform on the field and grab
the prize money.
