No job after graduating from college?

I just graduated from college about 3 weeks ago. I moved back home to this little bity town so my boyfriend could go to college. we had plans to stay in this little town until he graduated/got certified, which will probably take about 2 years. then we were going to move to a bigger town then. I have a bach. in finance and have applied to all the local banks and couple of local businesses. there's not that much to choose from. I'm thinking about working at my local grocery store for which i have previously worked there for about 2 years until i hear from the other places. my question is what if i don't hear back from any of the jobs? Im basically needing some moral support b/c i don't want to work in a grocery store for the rest of my life. the nearest town that would have more opportunities for me is an hour away so i don't know about commuting. will it hurt my career/future if i don't have a real job right after graduating college. will future employers see this as something bad? thanks for any help

  1. i don't have much experience, but i'm thinking you should apply to banks and places higher than grocery stores. your bach should help you land these jobs. if you absolutely cannot find a job around you, then go ahead and work at the grocery store. i don't think it would necessarily look bad if you worked at a grocery store, but it would look better if you worked at higher businesses.

  2. Hey hon, my husband and I are in the same boat. We had to move back to my parent's house because we thought we could afford a nice private school only to be lied to and end up having to move back! He's continuing to finish his bachelor's online and landed a good job(pays the bills), and I haven't the slightest clue what to do! Anyways, I live in a rural area, the only jobs around here are a few banks, and factory jobs. I'm subbing right now. Anyways, why not try substituting? I know, I know, I wouldn't have thought of it, but it does pay decent and will look more favorable on you. If you have to, you might could do both, sub and work at the grocery store part time. I understand what you're going through its very tough. Although I'm not a college graduate, yet, some of my friends are, we just have to find something that keeps us interested until something better comes along! Try other places first though to see what you can do. Does the grocery store need a accountant/office person? What about a CPA office, do they need someone part time? Just talk to your b/f, see if he can help you through his school(if its a comm. college or something), see if they need some one with your qualifications. Try neighboring towns. You shouldn't give up yet hon. Wish you the best! Blessings!

  3. congarst on the graduation.

  4. It will hurt in the long run.  When you do finally apply for a job more in line with your degree how will account for the two years??  Checking groceries will not be encouraging to someone reading your resume.  Why can't your BF go to a college in a big city now so you can get serious about job hunting.

  5.   How to Earn Rs.25000 every month in internet without Investment?

You can earn Rs.25000 very month from internet. This is easy form filling jobs. Work less than 1 hr daily. No investment. Please visit the website http://www.dataconversionjobs.com?id=135... .

  6. To get a job you have to be where the jobs are. But until he graduates you may have to do with a lesser job. Maybe working with kids. At least you have a degree that is marketable unlike philosphy etc which means you are condemed to a bookstore job.

  7. This may not come as moral boost for you - these are tough times.  White collar workers are getting laid off in batches - I mean the ones with Ph.D and decades of experience.  Smallish towns are probably the worst, as there are not too many opportunities.  Only recommendation is to keeping seeking until thou find something.  It's a challenging process without a clear road map.  Yes, it's frustrating, but one has to go through it.  Take what you get now, work hard, always look for better chances, keep moving on.  You can always explain the situation to future employers, and honesty will pay off./
