Question:

No latch on car for baby's carseat but can i add one to older car?

my 2000 suv doesnt have latches under the seat to latch my baby's carseat too. even though i put the seatbelt through the baby carseat and click it, i still get nervous cuz its not latched. am i able to purchase something so i can install latches to under my seat????

  1. Just take the vehicle and the car seat to your local fire department and let them inspect it for you, they will do this free of charge.


  2. The first poster is correct. Your local Fire Dept or State Police can inspect and help you with it for free.

  3. LATCH is not inherently safer than a seatbelt install, it's just supposed to be easier.

    You can not add LATCH to very many vehicles (I believe some Volkswagens are the only ones who offer this option.)

    Try car-seat.org for great techs who can help you get a solid install (less than one inch of movement at the belt path).
