  1. sorry you will miss your cricket, but after the poor display against the south african's do you realy want to watch it, it was terrible. if we can get a good team together then it might be worth it

  2. Its a bad decision to be honest.

8 million people watched The Ashes on C4 in 2005. Cricket was gaining a large fan-base due to England's success. The whole popularity of English cricket has come to a halt for 2 reasons. 1. England's form and 2. SkySports.

Now i have SKY!! (i dont know how i can actually afford it) but i would be much happier if English cricket moved back on terrestrial TV. Its strange that the ECB dont want as many people as they possibly can watching English cricket.

You also have to blame the BBC and C4 for not bidding (BBC's excuse was that it wouldnt fit in with schedulling)

    Words of comfort

    * Dont worry you will win the lottery and then you can buy SKY

    * Dont worry SKY will become bankrupt tomorrow and BBC will ahve to show it

    * There's always C5 highlights

Go with whatever makes you feel the best lol

  3. I think it stinks how Pay Tv can by the rights to these matches for the next 5 years. Not every houshold is 'privy' to pay TV..

They are thinking of the money and not of their fans..Not good enough i say.

Here in Australia Foxtel seem to be bying the right to so many cricket matches and unless you are like me and do have pay TV you have to settle with listening to it on the radio,as you can not watch it over the internet..

Not fair to those who can not afford to have pay TV..

Atleast here in Australia Channel 9 always get the rights to the coverage of our cricket season...

I wander if this means that free TV wont get to see the Ashes over here in australia....

  4. Blame T20 and other tripe which has made cricket more about money and less about the sport.  All sport has gone that way and cricket now joins them.

  5. Absolutely gutted too. On 5live the other day there was the likes of Darren Gough and Graeme Gooch proclaiming that cricket needs to be seen by as many as possible. Even Charles Clark slagged off the BBC for not even bidding. Apparently they even tried to sell it off in little bits. Yes Sky pay mega bucks but it will result in some kids never getting to see a match. Bad news.

  6. Sorry no comforting words here. The world is run by the men in suits and all they want is a bigger and bigger slice of the pie. The government is banging on about getting more children playing sport as are the cricketing authorities. How do they expect to interest the children when they don't get a chance to watch the game being played at the top level? Cricket in this country is doomed my friend soon Sky TV will have to beam the Mickey Mouse 20/20 game from Asia. How many will watch it then. A sad day for all sports fans Sky have tightened the noose on another sport soon they will rule the world. God help us all

  7. Speaking for myself, I'm not bothered, as I have Sky.I can afford the £45 a month as I don't have a family and rarely partake of the nightlife (at least not any more!).

However, that has not always been the case for me. When I still lived with my Mum, she couldn't afford Sky (although she's got it now), and so I couldn't watch any overseas cricket back in the 90's, as that was shown on Sky, whilst the BBC showed the home matches. But at least I got some cricket.

Now if people like cricket, but cannot afford Sky, then they cannot watch it, and won't be able to until after 2013. And that is assuming the ECB don't give a further award of the rights to Sky.

You'll just have to get into Horse racing: there is plenty of that on terrestrial TV.

Or become an affecienado of teletext cricket.

  8. Its annoying because they should give it to Channel 4. This is because more people will watch it. This means now that Sky Sports are just going to get more money.

  9. Gameday on the interweb

  10. Watch American Football! Cricket sucks!

  11. I am sure the channel subscription can not be too expensive. Sell 5 items on ebay each month and you would be able to pay it.

    Or

Open a weekly lemonade stand if cricket is that important.

    It is to me.
