  1. No More Heroes is one of my favorate Wii games of all time. Its just so creative and the story is just so fun to follow. I guess it does kinda ruin it with it being cencored a little but thats only if gorey games are your thing, i mean in the US version there are heads popping off every two seconds and fountains of blood pouring everywhere from the peoples necks. However that doesn't completely ruin the game. The game also has the most creative bosses I have ever seen. So I suggest that you get it, especially because I loved the game so much that I played through it a second time right after beating it.

  2. A game to rent... Not own. Bosses are hard and repetitive. This game just wishes it was GTA.

  3. Personally, I didn't like it. Reptitive combat, no replay value, and just some bad game design. Rent it first.

    Also, avoid Spyro.

  4. It's a great game, and even those the UK version is censored a bit, it shouldn't change gameplay that much.

  5. If you liked Kill Bill or any movies/games resembling that style, then you may like No More Heroes. Also, the reason that the graphics are not up to par even with a decent game by Wii standards -- aside from the creator wanting to pay homage to old style games -- is because Suda 51 tends to be more about story telling and style; presentation and graphics is not his strongest talent.

Keep in mind though, that the genre of the game is sort of like an Action Beat 'em Up. Think of old games like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that use to be in the arcades. As you mentioned too, the game is censored outside of the U.S. However, I believe that the strong language remains in tack, which I have more of an issue with than the stylized blood and death scenes.

I am currently rank #9 and the game is pretty enjoyable. The only real shortcomings are the "open world" is nothing to write home about, it is more of a layout to get you from point A to point B. Also, the collision detection between Travis' transportation and the things around him are not so good. Finally, Travis does side jobs before taking on assassination missions. At the end of each side job, you will  be awarded a bronze, silver, or gold. If you are an overachiever, you will more than likely want to achieve gold. However, you cannot reply the side job you had done. You have to drive back to the building that provided you the job and then go back to the location.

Regarding the open world though, I do get sidetracked every now and then to search for things called Lolikov balls and dumpsters, which is where Travis finds a few gifts. So there is some minor things to be gained in regards to the open world. The selling point to the game is the boss battles and a well written script. When you experience the first one, you'll be more than excited to see what zany assassin awaits you next. The fighting mechanics are good and there are slight forms of leveling up.

All in all, overlooking its small blemishes that could have used more polish, No More Heroes is a game that the Wii needs more of. I would love a sequel -- hopefully after the release of Wiimotion Plus. For now, I will have to settle for Suda 51's next creation (aside from Fatal Frame IV) which will be a project involving the creator of Resident Evil 4, Shinji Mikami.

  6. No More Heroes is a ridiculously bloody violent game. Basically, your character runs around fighting other assassins while wielding a lightsaber-like weapon. You attack with the A button, and perform finishing moves (bloody dismemberments) by swinging the Wiimote. Swinging both the Wiimote and Nunchuck also allows you to perform wrestling moves (like suplexes and piledrivers).

Its some-what open-ended, like GTA, as you move about the city from mission to mission. There are also some collectibles to find and other sub-missions to do.

I enjoyed No More Heroes a lot. I found it to be very fun to play. However, the violence and language are a bit high, so if its edited in England, it may be an entirely different experience. It should still be good though. I recommend it.
