No more room for error, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 game – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 skipper for this season’s Friends Life T20 campaign, Hamish Marshall, has asked his side to be at its absolute best when playing against Somerset at Taunton, on Friday, June 29.
The Gloucestershire Gladiators lost their previous match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 Bears, at home, County Ground, Bristol, on Wednesday, by seven wickets and find themselves in a must win situation ahead of the Somerset clash, in order to keep
their hopes of making the tournament's quarterfinals alive.
"We missed a trick by not beating Warwickshire and the next game is a must-win one for us," said Marshall after a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Bears.
"Had we beaten Warwickshire, we would have been in a good position in the group. But now we are playing catch-up and there is no more room for error," he added further.
Gloucestershire’s batting meekly failed against the Warwickshire bowlers, as they could only score a paltry 122 for 7, courtesy Dan Housego’s calculated 59 not out. Six of the seven wickets the Gladiators lost on Wednesday night, fell
for single digit scores.
With only one win and two defeats in five games – two being abandoned due to rain – the Gladiators find themselves at the bottom of the West Group, just above http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824, who are yet to win a match after six Flt20 games this season.
On the other side of the coin, Somerset are enjoying the top spot on Midlands/Wales/West Group points table, with four wins in six games. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alfonso-Thomas-c991 and co has not lost a game so far this season. They will go into Friday’s home fixture
against Gladiators at the back of a convincing seven-wicket win over bottom placed Northants.
The New Zealander admitted that playing Somerset in home conditions would be quite tough.
"Playing Somerset at Taunton is going to be really tough, but we are in a position where we just have to give it a go and hope our best is good enough," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marshall-c74817, who was appointed as the T20 skipper of Gladiators ahead of the ongoing
tournament, to relieve regular skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Gidman-c984 from additional responsibilities in order for him to focus on his batting.
