No more water?

Question

i saw on the history channel about this underground lake under nebraska could be drained and we wont have any water so then people will smuggle water across our borders instead of people also they said people will trade gas for water I MEAN HAVE THE NOT HEARD THE OIL CRISIS Also they said they could be a huge war over water! What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the history channel talks too much about the future (such irony)and how i t will end? OR what will the world end up fighting something like gas, minerals, or animal crackers?

It is interesting to think that people could care more about expensive water than expensive gas in 100 years.  No one knows exactly how much pure drinking water we have underground.  

Maybe we can run cars on hydrogen but we always need water to drink.

well the history channel says some stupid stuff but we won't ever run ou tof water  if the does happen we would take water from the ocean and boil it

It is called the Ogalala Aquifer and we are draining it at an alarming rate.  Things will get ugly in the next 100 years or so if we keep this c**p up.

What you are wondering has troubled humans with the ability to think beyond their present circumstances since our brains allowed that kind of thought.

There are many possible futures and which one is realized depends a lot on our actions.

Resources of all kinds that are required for our survival need to be considered. Sadly most people do not get the big picture, only how much of each we can get for ourselves.

Fresh water is paramount and even more important than fossil fuels for human and all life. If we ever run out I hope we have the technology to de desalinate sea water in large quantities.

One more point as alternatives for everything are found the cost basis of each changes restructuring the whole economic picture.

I don't think we will ever have wars over water because in the future we will still have aquaducts and desalinization plants. Every time you burn something with hydrogen in it you make water. That's what, "hydrogen" means, " thing that makes water".

I agree the history channel talks too much about the future and I forsee it eventually turning into yet another channel populated solely by computer animation and reality shows.
