No objection is raised about Chinese player Huang Sui playing for Australia

It was an interesting situation in latest edition of Australian Open when an ex-Chinese female player Huang Sui represented Australia in the event and interestingly no objection has been raised by the Chinese Badminton Association.
Women’s Doubles expert Huang Sui bid farewell to the arena in 2007 after clinching three world titles and she joined the Hunan Badminton Administrative Centre as deputy director of the provincial centre.
Later, the former World Champion remained out of the scene for a long period and made a surprise entry in Australian Open by representing the host country.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has declared her as an Australian citizen as according to federation’s rule if a player lives in a country for more than a quarter year, can represent that country in any event. However they are not allowed to participate
in prestigious events like World Championships and Olympics.
The Australian Open saw Huang Sui swinging arms with her partner Tang Hetian in Women’s Doubles event. The media officer of BWF, Jan Lin confirmed that none of the participating countries have raised objection on this.
It seems China was aware of the situation already and gave a green light to its former top female shuttler as the head coach of Chinese team Li Yongbo admitted that the Australian authorities contacted Chinese Badminton Association before the event.
The coach was not surprised with this development and hoped she will promote badminton in that region.
Li Yongbo said, "I'm not at all surprised to hear Huang Sui has represented Australia. Huang Sui has stopped training for years. Now she is back in the game, perhaps more as a hobby."
Yi Jiandong, a badminton critic and professor of Beijing Sports University, supported Huang’s decision by saying that she must not be criticised as there were very few chances for her in China.
He said, "she should not be blamed for and need not explain and justify."
The 31-year-old Huang is not the only one as China-born Pi Hongyan is another example who has represented France at international level just to have a better opportunity as there is always a tough competition in China to get a spot in national team.
However, after this decision Huang had to face a dismissal from the post of Hunan Badminton Administrative Centre.
