Ok, I've been hearing alot of people who are of other ethnicites and live outside of the US who degrade Americans for having parties! WTF people. I understand yal have your moral ethics and codes and such but don't degrade us for something that we actually enjoy.

We celebrate the birth of our children. We believe that life is blessed. Go figure. We celebrate graduating from primary school. We believe that them acheiving that feet deserves a reward. Go figure. We celebrate friends and family's engagements and marriages. We believe that finding someone to share the rest of your life with is well worth it. Hmm.. Get where I'm going? We celebrate the little things in life because they all build up to a greater and happier life. If you don't celebrate a little, then you have nothing to modivate you to do MORE. To get out there and do more. I'm not criticizing anyone for doing anything. I'm saying that I'm tired of people outside of the US criticizing us for celebrating little things that we enjoy. Has anyone else seen this trend?

  1. Wow you are as thick as the stereotypical American girth. We have parties too you know.

  2. Other countries degrade us because of the way our parties are. Like girls lifting their shirt up, guys drunk and girls drunk throwing up all over the place, their parties are not like that. They think our parties our wild based on everything they see on TV, thank the media for corrupting them. That is basically it.

"Wow you are as thick as the stereotypical American girth"

ok, just answering the question without insulting the person that asked it is not that hard to do, its not AP Calculus and not that complicated, my god you people need to grow some thick skin and stop having a dirty diaper over everything.

  3. You need to look further then your nose and see that Yes ppl outside the US do celebrate their birthdays and who has time to be looking down on the USA abt something like that anyways...we all av got something called a life...get one..and other things to do with our time.

  4. No.. actually I haven't

  5. ?? wtf?

  6. Seriously?? I've travelled a lot and lived in a lot of different countries and I never was aware of this... I thought most cultures celebrate these milestones...

I can understand that some cultures - due to religious or economic factors - disagree with partying, as in alcoholic fuelled debauchery (personally a favorite pastime of mine).

Incidentally, I'm from an ethnicity outside of the States and so are most of my peers. We party and we don't look down on the US for doing the same.

  7. Um, you do realize that America isn't being criticized for birthday parties, it's being criticized for all the parties that are just people getting drunk and high and partying just because they can, right?

People in other countries have parties all the time, but they aren't nearly as characterized as inviting hundreds of strangers over to a house to wreck everything, get drunk, and have s*x with people they've never met.

  8. There are a lot of countries who have looked down on the USA for a long time because they have to have someone to pick on.  They are adamant the USA is trying to take over the world.  A question I just answered just asked if you could live in any country, where would you live.  I would live right here because I believe we have a better place to live.  We are not killing those not like us.  We are not suppressing women to the extent other cultures do.  I like it right here and if people don't want to live here, let them go somewhere else.

  9. I can't speak of other countries, but that's kind of how it is in Nigeria. In Nigeria nobody cares about your birthday and graduating from high school is definitely not celebrated... it is merely expected. In America every little thing is celebrated, but in Nigeria only things of tremendous importance are celebrated [i.e. a wedding].

As a Nigerian-American I can see the reasoning behind both methods. In Nigeria the incentive to work to your goal is the reward. In America little rewards help you to work toward your goal. Neither system is wrong.

FYI: Nigerians don't degrade Americans for their frequent parties... they merely find it interesting.

  10. I've never even heard of people "criticizing" the US for that. Someone needs to get their facts straight obviously.

Are you aware we have parties too? For graduating university, for passing exams, for birthdays, engagements, Halloween, birth, we have wakes for the dead, Christening parties etc. Now do YOU see where I'M going with that?

The only thing I'll criticize you for now is the fact "modivate" is NOT word.

Edit: I think you will find baby showers are GROWING over here, they are becoming quite popular. My mum has been to a few as it happens. http://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/news/Bab...

I don't drink either! I'm underage and take way to many tablets for that!

  11. uh?
