No one should tell me when to retire, insists a miffed Sachin – Cricket News Update
The iconic Indian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, on Sunday insisted that he has no more milestones to chase in his cricketing career .
The Indian batting prodigy, who will be turning 39 next month, recently notched his much awaited hundredth international ton in an Asia Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
“I can't think of milestones,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
“I have been able to play for India and win the World Cup. I don't know what is in store for me but my focus would be to just enjoy the game. I don't want to focus on what I have to achieve because I have already achieved what I wanted," he added further.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005, who started his career back in 1989, said that his dream was to don the Indian colours and win a World Cup for the country, and having achieved that, he has nothing left to wish for.
"I don't think I need to prove anything right now,” said the little batting maestro, who also holds the record of being the highest run scorer in both the Test and ODI cricket. “The dream was to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and win the World Cup, I don't think anything
can be bigger than that,” he added further.
Before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, it was being speculated that Tendulkar had been extending his career to win a World Cup for the country and after India won the title, he will immediately hang his boots. But during the high profile tournament at home last
year, Sachin struck his 99th hundred and started looking forward to his record ton of international tons, a milestone Sachin has waited for a complete one year to reach.
Since reaching the milestone in Dhaka two weeks ago, the little Batting Maestro has been at the centre of retirement speculation. But declining the retirement suggestions, the Master Blaster said that he does not need dictation from anyone on when to retire.
"No one should tell me when to retire. I will play till I have the desire,” asserted a miffed Tendulkar.
