Question:

No pain but also no appetite after wisdom tooth extraction?

I got a wisdom tooth pulled two days ago, and since then I've had next to no pain. I still get hungry like I normally do, but whenever I put food in my mouth I suddenly lose the desire to eat, though this does not happen with liquids like smoothies and such. What's up?

  1. Just had it done yesterday and i have to agree with previous poster. All the blood and ick makes me not want to eat. Even drinking water right now is blech. :)

  2. I felt the exact same way when I had my surgery, which is why I lost 7 lbs the week of my surgery. All week, I ate mashed potatoes and jello, and wasn't really hungry. It's important to eat to stay nourished, even if you aren't hungry.

Of course, the next week I gained it all back when I could eat solid foods... ;)

  3. i got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out at once and i didn't have any pain either but as far as the appetite goes i was mostly not hungry because i was disgusted on how much my mouth was bleeding and the taste.....maybe that could be it??

  4. My neighbor lost 10 pounds in a week, and he was definately not overweight beforehand, so yes, it can make you lose your appetite.  Not sure why, but you should eventually get it back.  If it continues more than a few days, I'd give the doctor a call.
