Question:

No period after being off pill 4 months but not pregnant?

I have been taking Loestrin 30 for 7 years and came off 4 months ago but have not had a period and am definitely not pregnant (I tested a lot). I am worried because I was put on the pill at 15 to control irregular periods - I was literally on my period every two week and bleeding sometimes for 10 days then a week or two would go by and then I'd bleed again for 10 days. Now nothing is happening. Is it normal for the body to take this long to re-adjust to coming off the pill and should I worry that my periods were irregular when I was younger? I'm 29 by the way in case this might matter.

  1. It took me 5 months to come back on my period after I had come off the pill. I was on ovranette. it is a mini pill that stops you ovulating.

However, I found out that I have got Polycystic Ovaries, or PCOS, Do you have any other symptons of this? I don't mean to worry you, but irregular periods is one of the symptons.

If you are worried go to the doctors - because worrying really does make it worse.

One thing that happened to me when I went to the doctors was quite scary and I don't want it to happen to you so I'll tell you about it so you don't worry just in case. I had a blood test for hormone levels and my FSH levels were sky high (normal levels are about 10 - mine was 113!) The doctor told me not to look at stuff on the internet but I did and the only thing I could find about fsh was menopause (i'm 27) I was really deverstated. However I had this test 4 months after I came off the pill and it definitely wasn't menopause.

I just wanted to tell you that cos for about 2 months I was totally beside myself with worry - and I want to make sure doesn't happen yo anyone else.

Anyway good luck - as always go and see a doctor and trust what they have to say.

  2. here we go,u have made the same mistake that i had made.since i was 13 i had my periods after almost every two weeks & sometimes even after one week itself & they always lasted 10 days.so i was litterly bleeding for the whole month it felt.i didnt discuss it with anyone till i was 15 & couldn't take it anymore.upon meeting the gyno i went through a series of tests which confirmed that i had PCOS(poly cyctic ovarie syndrome) & harmonal imbalance.the gyno put me on oral contraceptive pill since thats the only solution.i was very happy becz for the first time i felt normal & had a life.now i am 25 & came off the pills just 5 months back.my docter really shouted a lot on me when i told him i have been taking the pills since so many years.no its not normal for body to take this long to re-adjust.u must go to a good gyno as soon as possible.i hope u dont have pcos but please get it ruled out by a docter & seek treatment for irregular periods.its not good to have irregular periods so pls get help for it.
