No place for Chris Gayle, Lendl Simmons and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371 in WICB central contract list - Cricket News Update
West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), on Saturday, October 22, 2011, revealed its list of centrally contracted players for the season 2011-12.
WICB contract list came as a bolt from the blue for renowned cricketers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LMP-Simmons-c1843 and Ramnaresh Sarwan as there was no place for them in the roll.
Other players who failed to earn the cricket boards favour include wicket-keeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754.
Gayle, Bravo and Pollard have been at loggerheads with crickets governing body in West Indies and refused to sign the central contracts last time they were offered and this is probably the reason why the trio was overlooked by
the WICB.
However, the decision to exclude Simmons and Ramdin may require some explanation as the duo are part of the West Indian outfits that is currently on tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
The West Indies Cricket Board list consists of four categories, namely, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C and Development Contracts.
Veteran batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390, one again earned the top honours by retaining his place in Grade A. There are no more players accompanying Chanderpaul in this category.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 are also
in the same grade. Rampaul and Edwards have jumped on their grades while Sammy maintained his position.
Devendra Bishoo and Kirk Edwards, both of whom were in Development Contracts last year are now promoted to Grade C.
Dwayne Bravo’s brother, Darren Bravo, is also placed in the same category as Bishoo, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 premium bowler in 2011 World Cup, Kemar Roach.
