No plans to step down: Misbah-ul-Haq – Cricket News Update
Following Pakistan’s disastrous performance in the limited-overs leg of the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 has come under fire for his poor captaincy – however, the 37-year-old claims that he has no plans to step down from his post.
“It (the captaincy) is the board's decision, but I am not going to take any hasty decisions,” he said in response to the calls for his resignation, adding that he was in fine form, and enjoying his cricket.
Former captain and Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 were among those who slammed Misbah for his ineffective captaincy in the ODI bouts, saying his attitude was too passive, and lacked the aggression required to lead the team to victory.
“I am surprised at these calls being made for changes in the team. People forget that this very team has been doing well for the last one year. One bad series does not mean you press the panic button,” the veteran skipper pointed out.
Pakistan got off to an outstanding start at the beginning of the series, sweeping the Test series 3-0, upsetting the top Test team with a shocking defeat.
“We were on top in the Test series and won it handsomely because our bowlers were in top form,” Misbah observed, referring in particular to the remarkable performances of spinners http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691, who had the English batsmen struggling to keep up.
However, things took a downward turn when the limited overs series began – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806’s batting prowess.
“In the one-day series their bowlers came good,” the right-hander said, giving the opponents credit for their performance. However, he went on to point out that both teams struggled with their batting, because the pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were slow.
He admitted that the team’s batting had been particularly weak throughout the series, and was a factor the team needed to work on.
“But I don't support big changes in the team because these players have been doing well for the country for the last one year,” the Men in Green captain concluded.
