Everytime I turn on my computer, a million messenger screens and stuff pop up onto my desktop. How can I change my settings to limit what comes up when I turn on my computer?

Also, on AIM, how can I make it so that everytime I log in, an AIM web page opens up on my internet explorer?

Thank you!

  1. For Windows, click start... select Run

    type

    MSCONFIG

    Press okay.

Navigate to the startup tab -- you can uncheck all the c**p you don't want to autostart -- you might want to google for the filenames if you don't know what they are so you don't accidentally disable something important.

For AIM, login to AIM...on your buddy list select  Edit-->Settings

On left panel click on "Sign In/Sign Out". On right hand side change from "Aim Zones" to None.  Click OK

  2. Each individual program can be set to run when you start windows or not. You will need to go through each program and check its preferences or options. If they are internet pop-ups then you have a virus.
