No power after i switched patio light fixture???? help?

I was helping my neighbor out by installing some outside lights for her .I stitched out 3 of her outside fictures and 2 worked only im not getting power on the last fixture they all are in differnte places ones in the front ones in the side and ones in the back im thinking real simple just match the wires so i did now i got no power in the back one i checked the fuses all seems good i tested the switch no juice to the wires .What can be wrong please help???any advice is welcomed thank you

  1. Check the current coming into the switch.  If current is present, turn the switch on and test for current leaving the switch.  If no current is leaving the switch, replace the switch.


  2. Its easy to have a loose connection. Ensure that the wires are connected properly by removing the marrette and checking the connection. It sounds like it might be on a three way switch so that fixture may be connected to another switch.

    It may be a long shot but the light in the fixture may be defective. Use a test meter to ensure you have power to the light in question. If you have power, its either the light fixture or the connection to it.

  3. There has to be a break somewhere in the wiring in order not to get power, or the switch for some reason is no good. Somehow something is not making contact.

  4. you have your wires switched at your fixture, check them, make sure they are together and on the correct wires...
