No quite sure what to title this? :)?

Question

I wasn't quite sure what to title this question...but basically I was just wanting to know how old you were when you became engaged. How long had you been dating that person? How long after ya'll began talking about being married, did the proposal happen? How long were ya'll engaged?

I'm just asking out of curiousity...any stories are welcome. :)

Fair question :-).

Well, I was 22 when I got engaged to a 27 year old man I had been dating for a year and who had been my best friend for 6 months prior to us getting together.

For the proposal, Eric took me out for a romantic dinner on a Parisian restaurant boat which we boarded at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

At first, we didn't talk about dates, but about 3 months into the engagement, the topic came up one night and we started looking at reception venues.

Before we knew it, we had found our dream castle that rented out by the day (24 hours) and called to see if they had any availabilities for the following summer.  As luck had it, they did and we booked!

So, nearly a year after he gave me the ring, we tied the knot.

We dated almost 19 months before we got engaged. We had known each other for 11 years before we started dating. We are getting married about 18 months after we got engaged. We started talking about getting married after our third date.

My husband and I have been dating for 6.5 yrs. and been married now for almost 2 yrs. We have been living together for 4 yrs.

We are still young, im 21 and he is 23. We had planned to wait until an yr. that we were living together to make sure we were on teh same level which we were, but with me starting college and him always working we just didnt worry about it. Later i ended up gatting pregnant and we decied it was time to get married, so after my first child was born we deciede to have a small wedding just immediated family(my choice) 2 months after my son was born.

there was not proposal before the decision, because we both knew marriage or not taht we wanted to spen our lives together. well we went to pick out our rings about 2 weeks before teh wedding and i picked a really cute kinda small single diamond ring. and he picked his gold band. well i called like the week before the wedding b.c that when theh rings were supposed to be ready and the guy said oh Im soso soso soso sorry but they wont be in unitl after teh wedding. so of course i cried, but my husband a nd i said we would just use some stand in rings...lol... well the day before the wedding we had jsut taken our showers and when i was getting out he was waiting for me it the hall way and he leaned in and gave me a kiss and then got on one knee and said will you marry me, and then he held out the boxes with is gold band and instead of my ring i had chose he had a 3 diamond 2.5 carrot ring in his hand for me. I just said yes and started crying. and he said that he had been having that ring for me since we went in that day and just told the owner to give me the run around b/c he wanted to surprise me.

We met at a party when he was 19 and I was 20, we started dating like 2 months later- Nov. 2003. We didn't talk about getting married that much until we had been together for like 2 or so years. He then proposed to me Nov. 2006 at our favorite restaurant that we go to for our birthdays and anniversary every year. So he was 22 and I was 23. We are now getting married on the beach Nov. 2008. He will be 24 and I will be 25. :-)

i was 30 when i got married.started dating him at 26.we were not really engaged just lived together after 9-11 we decided to make that jump we got married 11-9 cuz we will never forget!!

My fiance and i have been together for almost 6 1/2 yrs. I was 15 and he was 17 when we first dated. We were together for 3yrs before he asked me to marry him.  and now three yrs. later i am 22 and he is 24 and we are starting to plan our wedding for July 18, 2009

I was 26 when I got engaged, dating for just over a year and a half.  I'd say the proposal happened.. haha, probably a year after we started talking about it? I think?  We'll be engaged for just under a year and a half by the time we get married.

A little backstory.. I knew him when I was in high school, we were friends and then parted my soph year in college.  He found me again (haha, thank you myspace) and we reconnected immediately.  We always joke, had he gotten it right the first time, we would be married with two kids by now.

My fiance and I have been together just under four years now, and we got engaged a little over a month ago. We've been living together for three years, and knew about when we moved in together (a year into our relationship) we wanted to get married. But we were justs tarting out and because we both wanted a big day (not huge, but we wanted our family and friends with a reception), we held off on getting engaged until we had money, stable jobs, etc. We're so happy we did. He proposed on the anniversary of my final cancer treatment which declared me cured, so he turned something that was once a drag into something happy and meaningful. In the proposal, he said he's be there for me, no matter what illness I got or what we have to brave together throughout our lives. It was perfect.

Then we went wine tasting to commemorate the occasion :)

EDIT: Oops, forgot to say that we're both 25 now, and we'll be 26 when we get married next year in September.

We had been dating between4-5 years.

We were talking about marriage from the beginning of our relationship so again about 4 years.

We got engaged 7/25/06 and will be engaged to 5/23/09 so almost three years.

My fiance is 19, I am 22.  We met november of 2007.  Started dating March 23, 2008.  He proposed April 23rd, 2008 and I said yes.  We will be getting married May 23, 2009.  Everyone says we are crazy but oh well, we love each other.

i am 22 and just got engaged.(he's 27) I've been with him for a little over 4 years (exactly 4 when we got engaged).  We have been living together for jsut over 3 1/2 years now.  And we've been talking about marriage...well since before we moved in together. We just KNEW and the only thing that has put this wedding off this long has been money issues. Both students trying to pay our rent food etc.  So now we can finally have our day.  We got engaged in June 2008 and will be getting married August 2009.

I was 16 been dating for two years.  We dated another 3 unhappy years after that no wedding plans really in the works and finally broke up.  I dated another guy for 10 years after that with many talks about wedding, but finally left him too.  Now granted these guys never treated me the best and it just took me a long time to figure it out.  Now my current we've been together for a year (granted I am 30 and more mature now) and we are talking about a wedding next fall or the year after, but in now hurry.  

My parents dated 8 years, planned their wedding in five months and have been married for 33 years now.

I was 18 when I started dating my husband, he turned 19 a few days after we stared.  I had known him since I was in the fifth grade, his brother was best friends with my best friend's brother and the two families hung out all the time.  We were on the swim team together in middle school...

We started talking not so much about marriage but our futures together after six months of dating.  After about two years it was a given that we would get married.

He proposed after four and a half years of dating, in October.  It was just after my 23rd birthday.  We wanted a fall wedding but nothing was available the next year and we didn't want to wait two years.  So we decided a spring wedding would be just as nice and got married a year and a half after getting engaged, six years and two months after we started dating.  He was 26 and I was 24 when we got married.
