No relaxation in Barcelona as they face Ceuta - Part 1
Barcelona are going to continue their hectic schedule as they are going to go down to play their first ever Spanish Cup match. The Catalan giants are going to be a part of three games in eight days. The games include the match
that they are going to play today against AD Ceuta along with the Sevilla game that is going to be played on Saturday, and the midweek UEFA Champions League fixture in which they have to travel to Denmark to face the Danish Champions FC Copenhagen at their
home ground.
It was decided before hand that the coach of the Catalan giants, Josep Pep Guardiola was going to rest his first team players as he does not want any more fatigued players. His decision comes out as a result of a series of injuries
to his players. Guardiola has already missed out on his favourite midfielder, Xavi Hernandez for the past two games that the team has played. The players are simply burned out as they have seen a lot of football lately and are expected to perform in every
game as well, as they are representing their club, FC Barcelona.
Guardiola has taken six Barca B players along with him because many first team players are going to be missing out on the tour. The Catalan giants travelled on a helicopter to the home ground of Ceuta and they are now going to
compete against a team that looks pretty weak on paper. However, in reality it is definitely going to be tough as not many first team players are going to be a part of the match and Guardiola wants the B team players to perform at their best.
The Spanish coach has warned his team already that they should not be over confident about the match. The Barca B team has won a lot of competitions before this and the players that are going to feature are obviously going to be
outstanding, but the team that they are going to face can always turn the tides and there is always a chance that either team can be on the losing end of it. The simple example can be taken from Barcelona’s performance against the newly promoted team, Hercules.
The Catalan giants had a very good away start to the season as they had won all four away matches that they had played, but while performing at their home ground, they missed out on a lot of points.
Barcelona were to face the newly promoted side Hercules in the second fixture of the Spanish La Liga and the team was simply over confident as Guardiola sent out his best men in case he does not miss out on crucial points. However,
Hercules came out with flying colours that night and even though players like Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta featured in that match, the team did not manage to win and the visitors wrapped the game up with 3 points as they defeated
Barcelona 0-2 at the Nou Camp.
