No reshuffling in the Test team in near future, says MS Dhoni – Cricket News Update
India’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, has admitted that his side’s top-order batsmen need to raise their game in Test cricket but made it clear that no radical changes are on the agenda.
The Men in Blue outclassed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in
the previous season.
Some of the Indian batsmen like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, who had a
miserable time in Test cricket since last year, failed to make a big impression against the Kiwis as well.
Sehwag scored 128 runs in the series and his partner managed just 58. The experienced opening pair’s performance has been criticized by some of the analysts, who maintain that India must look to groom young batsmen who can deliver
the goods in foreign conditions as well.
The wicketkeeper/batsman is satisfied with the overall performance of the team but confessed that the openers need to score runs consistently. The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jharkhand-c800 still has complete faith in Gambhir’s abilities and feels
that the left-hander will come good in future.
"We need to improve a bit but overall it's quite good. I don't see any reshuffling at the moment. It's quite some time that we play a Test series," the Indian captain said. "I think Gautam (Gambhir) is batting really well in the nets. He started off really
well (on Monday). So we're hoping he would come good in the coming games."
Gambhir and Sehwag have been great servants of Indian cricket over the years but their ability to score runs in bowling-friendly conditions has been a concern for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 over the last 18 months.
The captain however, is happy to see Pujara and Kohli perform so well when their team needed them the most.
"They have to take up a little more responsibility as the season progresses and hopefully they will come right. It's pleasing to see the youngsters perform," Dhoni added.
