No selector can drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, says Ganguly – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, the former Indian skipper, is of the view that no selector will ever ask Sachin Tendulkar to retire from international cricket and the little-master will take the call himself, sooner or later.
Over the last 12 months or so, there has been an ever-increasing pressure on the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 to hang his boots, having struggled to perform consistently at the ultimate stage of the game.
Some of the sporting analysts believe that winning the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 was an ideal moment for the great batsman to quit international cricket, as he has been struggling to deliver the goods since then.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772, two of the modern-day greats, had to announce their retirement from international cricket earlier this year after their failure to help the Men in Blue avoid whitewashes in England and Australia.
Tendulkar however, survived the phase but failed to make an impression in the six Test matches at home this year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and England, scoring just 175 runs.
Ganguly feels that no selector can exclude Tendulkar from the national team, taking into account the 39-year-old cricketer’ s achievements for the country.
"I don't think any selector will ever ask him to retire or drop him. Don't know if its right or wrong. He will decide whichever way he wants to go", Ganguly said.
With more than 34 thousand runs at the highest stage of the game and 100 international centuries, Tendulkar holds almost all the important batting records in Test cricket as well as the 50-over format.
The batting-maestro is likely to play the upcoming ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, which in Ganguly’s opinion, can help the legendary batsman find his lost form ahead of an important series against Australia at home.
"If he has decided to play the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 then I think the eight ODIs will help get back the confidence which is required to get runs. If you score runs you go with much better frame of mind into Test matches. If he does well in the One-Dayers it will help him do well in Test matches", he mentioned.
