The Galician player underwent arthroscopy at the end of last season for an injury he suffered in his right knee after surgery years ago. It was revealed that he had a ruptured cruciate ligament and meniscus in the joint, a grave injury that went unnoticed

"Fran Rico has important and serious injury, he is sore on his knee and have to see how it evolves every day at work," said Fernandez, adding that the player is moving steadily with doses of growth hormones that he has been asked to intake on a weekly basis.
Continuing on the subject, the medical team’s head shared that the club and the player have been updated on the results, revealing that they have set other provisions for themselves but will have to be patient in their efforts.
"The club and the player know that the goal is to recover to be playing football in the time it is, without any provision set ourselves" so that "we must be patient," the doctor added.
