Question:

No shower Pressure?

I recently fitted some new taps into my bathroom. The plumbers took off the kitchen taps however. I then noticed that the kitchen taps hot water pressure was down and the shower downstairs was not what it was in terms of pressure, it was lower.

What can i do to fix this. I have had plumbers come to see it but they could not find the problem. They said that there was air in the pipes but how can this be cured if it is air? Any other suggestions or theories.

Please Help.

  1. Sorry not buying the air in the pipes thing.  Air will flush out quickly and pressure is not affected by it.

Are the new taps either low flow or do they have scald protection?  The shower probably does and is.  When we had ours done I had to take it apart and where the apeture is-where the water flows-had to drill the hole bigger to allow more flow.  Plimbers have a hard time doing this because if you hurt yourself you can suue them for altering the fixture.

  2. Take off the shower head, and turn on the water.  If the pressure is still low, the problem is in the pipe, and not in the shower head.  If the problem is in the shower head, take out the aerator screen, and see if something is stuck in it (I had this happen before).  If it is in the pipes, I have no idea.  As far as it being air?!  The water would push the air out, IMHO.
