hi i have a old computer and i get this message on the monitor when i try to boot the pc,no sinal cable connected?

when i boot the pc i get the green light on and the fan starts and i get a beep from the pc but the hard drive will not boot,

when i used to use it before sometimes it would not fire first time i had to reboot and then it was ok,now i can`t get it to fire up at all,i have tried another monitor and that is the same so it`s the pc,i have onboard graphics so i don`t know if that has anything to do with it,

i have tried removing the bios battery etc still no luck,

plus i am sure that after the first beep when i used the pc before i think i used to get a second beep from the graphics to start the monitor, i am not getting that now,

any ideas would be welcome,

thanks..

  1. I think its because your video card is bad ;]

  2. Sounds like a bad video card.

  3. If it's not booting up, doesnt mean its just the graphics. Could be a fried motherboard. Check the MB for any melted circut. clean your fan.

If you say that the BIOS only beeps once when before it was twice then it doesnt sound good!

The same thing happend with mine, so i changed the MB, and it worked fine. So i am guessing your MB is fried especially if you say it's an old machine.
