No significant progress in sight with Lockout official -NHL Update
In the National Hockey League (NHL) and drawing room of the Players’ Association, there is no telling what might happen in the coming days as the upcoming 2012-2013 regular season is currently in complete doubt with the now former collective bargaining agreement
out the window and having came to an end on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
The first day of an unofficial lockout has come and gone and everyone seems to be starting at a blank wall with nothing written on it and an even blanker mind.
There is no doubt to the fact that the people who suffer the most will be the dedicated fans that will have to force themselves in choosing to watch a different sport given that theirs is locked out due to the fact that players and franchise owners failed
to reach an agreement on finances and league operations.
"This is a time of year for all attention to be focused on the ice, not on a meeting room," the league said. "The league, the clubs and the players all have a stake in resolving our bargaining issues appropriately and getting the puck dropped as soon as
possible. We owe it to each other, to the game and, most of all, to the fans."
A number of teams are looking towards making an impact as they made some major change ups to their franchise over the offseason, one of those clubs being the Minnesota Wild, but as frustrating the situation might be, all that hype might just die down when
the time comes around to perform.
"It's a frustration situation to go through because you never want a work stoppage," Wild defender, Steve Kampfer, said. "But we're trying to fight for what's fair for both the owners and players. Everybody wants more money. The owners want to keep more
of their profits and the players want their fair share of the profits. As players, we have full confidence that (NHLPA executive director) Donald Fehr will do his job to get us the best deal that he can."
Currently, there has not been any set date for the NHL and NHLPA to meet and reach a deal, but something in relation to that should be expected in the upcoming days.
