that happened to mine when i added a new web-cam to my computer all i had to do was shut down your computer for 10 minutes then turn it back on!!!

You probably don't have a music disk drive or something

If the computer is brand new, the sound drivers may not yet be installed. If the sound just went out one day, after working previously, the card might be fried, or at least malfunctioning in some way.

To install sound drivers, consult your motherboard manufacturer or PC manufacturer.
