Question:

No sound when using dish or regular tv

I recently bought a phillips surround sound from a friend. It has 6 speakers. I have 1 cable to hook to the back of the tv. I get sound when playing a movie in the cd player but no sound when watching regular tv or satellite. any help would be appreciated
