No special strategy for London Olympics, says Indian player Jwala Gutta
The prime female shuttler Jwala Gutta of India has announced that she will not take any pressure of Olympic qualification period and will continue with her regular game style.
The top Women’s Doubles campaigner of the country, Jwala Gutta stated that the Olympics is an esteemed badminton event but she will not change her craft and give it her best shot. If it does not work she will not regret it.
Jwala said, "Olympics is precious. Pressure is always there but I would like to take no pressure. I just want to go and play as I can, no regrets, that's me."
The Maharashtra girl pairs with Ashwini Ponnappa in the Women’s Doubles event and the duo is placed at 20th spot in world rankings. She also joins hands with V. Diju to stand at 16th place in the Mixed Doubles world rankings.
Both Indian pairs will have to be in top 16 teams of their respective field before May 3 ranking to ensure their presence in the mega 2012 London Olympics.
However, Jwala looked calm as she stated that if they fail to cement their spot in the mega event it will have no effect on their lives.
She said, "We have created history, so we don't need to worry. I have spoken to both my partners that we shouldn't take pressure. It doesn't matter if we don't qualify."
At the moment, they are sweating hard under the supervision of Syed Mohammad Arif as they are supposed to represent their country in the Asian Badminton Championships and India Open before the London Games.
The top female pair Jwala-Ashwini has received a tricky draw in the India Open as they will compete with Poon Lok Yan-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong in first round while the Mixed Doubles campaigners Jwala-V. Diju will try to forge good chemistry against the
dangerous Chinese contenders Jiaming Tao and Huan Xia.
However, Jwala looked confident while claiming that they will utilise their past experience of World Championships and CommonWealth Games to land at the podium in the home event and their tricky draws will not come in their way to glory.
The India Open is going to be the last event before Olympic qualification period ends in May and all top shuttlers will be looking to earn some valuable ranking points to elevate their status in world rankings.
