No stopping Modern Warfare 3 in the PlayStation 3 Charts, Saints Row: The Third debuts
A majority of the world’s population seems to have made their way to video game retailers and purchased themselves a copy of Activision’s latest foray into the modern military first-person shooter genre as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 continues to dominate
the sales charts around the world.
However, we will turn our attention to the United Kingdom’s sales charts and see how some of the other big names in the gaming industry managed to fair in the charts against each other and the goliath that is Modern Warfare 3.
10. Little Big Planet 2: the expectations surrounding the DLC pack and PlayStation Move compatibility seemed to have enticed enough consumers in the United Kingdom to buy themselves a copy of SackBoy’s latest adventure as Media Molecule’s
creation climbs back up the charts and settles in at the number ten spot.
9. Batman: Arkham City: a sure-shot to be a contender for game of the year, Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City is continuing on its slow, yet steady, slide down the PlayStation 3 charts. Yet, one can expect it to be back as soon as the next
batch of DLCs are released.
8. Need For Speed: The Run: the only racing game in the charts for the week, the latest Need For Speed game tried a different approach than what the genre is known for. However, during a time when so many big titles are competing for a slice
of the holiday season pie, The Run just was not fast enough for a higher finish.
7. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception: swapping the snow covered mountains of Tibet for the sands of the desert, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 took gamers on a memorable adventure and settles in at the number seven spot.
6. Battlefield 3: has the honor of being its publisher’s fastest selling game of all time. Now however, it seems that its pace has slowed down as the game that once topped the charts is now outside the top five.
5. FIFA 12: the football simulation game that has something for everyone, FIFA 12 is still raking in the birds and the bees for Electronic Arts as it kicks off the top five of the charts.
4. Saints Row: The Third: wacky, unadulterated, shameless and unique in its approach to the open world sandbox genre, Saints Row: The Third attracted enough purchases to end its first week in the charts in the fourth spot.
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: not even Dragons seemed to be able to break the grip that Modern Warfare 3 has on the charts as the open world role playing game finished in third spot.
2. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations: with one of the most emotional endings in recent gaming history, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations gave the two main characters of the series, Ezio Auditore and Altair, a fitting send off. It also
managed to rake in a fair amount of revenue as well.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: was it ever in any doubt that Modern Warfare 3 would dominate the world when it came out? One can expect this title to stay in the charts for quite a while to come.
