No threat to Cowboys' Coach Jason Garrett’s job assures owner Jerry Jones – NFL News
Only three weeks are left before the regular season of the National Football League current season ends. As few teams have secured the playoff-spot and many are still competing, there are some teams that are guaranteed not to play
in the postseason. And their management is disappointed!
This week brought the curtains down for Kansas City Cheifs Todd Haley and Miami Dolphins’ Tony Sparano. Both the franchises are virtually out of the playoff-race.
It is being guessed that who would be the next coach to be sent packing. Whosoever it maybe, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is certainly not of the possibilities.
The Cowboys were leading the National Football Conference East division two weeks ago. After the defeats against Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants in the week 13 and 14 respectively, they are now tied for the first spot in
the division and have created more obstacles in their way to the postseason.
However, the recent slump is not going to affect the head coach who is in his first of the four-year contract with the franchise. Cowboys’ owner/general manager Jerry Jones on Tuesday rubbished all the speculations surrounding
Jason Garrett’s firing.
The owner said that he wanted to see improvement in the team’s performance, but at the same time showed confidence in the coach, saying that Garrett is capable of correcting the mistakes the players have made.
"Well, that's not a question that's in my mind, kinda worth responding to," Jones said on Tuesday when asked about the matter. "But the answer’s no. We’re just getting started here.
"No, not at all. It's really not even something worth discussion. We are really just getting started. We've made the first half step out of the blocks in Jason's career as coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I do intend, if there are
mistakes made, then, I want to be around for the rewards when they're corrected. And he's the guy that can correct them," he added.
Jones also said that he was aware about the popular sentiment of the fans who are frustrated to see their team coming to a tie with the Giants after grabbing a one-game lead over them. However, he pointed out that the team had
won a few games in the season and that achievement, he said, could not be ignored.
