No time to rest for 2012 Masters champ Neil Robertson: 2012 Championship League Snooker Group 3
Australia’s Neil Robertson has clinched his first ever Masters Snooker tournament after beating England’s Shaun Murphy 10-6 in the final encounter at the Alexandra Palace in London. The new Masters champion is now heading to Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock
to participate in the 2012 Championship League Snooker Group 3 matches.
There is no time to rest for the champ as he will be facing some of the toughest opponents in the league matches, which will commence from January 23. The potters listed in the Group 3 include former seven-time World Snooker Champion Stephen Hendry, World
Number one Mark Selby, Martin Gould, Matthew Stevens, Jamie Cope and Mark Davis.
The event will be a thriller because all potters are looking forward to book a place in the Premier League Snooker. Robertson will be playing against Gould and Cope on the opening day of the Championship League Group 3 matches. Before leaving for Crondon
Park Golf Club, the Aussie asked World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn for a day off but his request was rejected.
While speaking to local media before going to Crondon Park Golf Club, Robertson said, “I asked Barry if I could have the day off because I'm supposed to be going to Crondon Park to play in the Championship League. My match is at 11am against Mark Davis.
He probably thinks I won't turn up! I asked Barry if I could have the day off and he said 'No chance, you've got to work!”
The 29-year-old added, “I'll try my best tomorrow, but you have to enjoy these moments. I won't take my foot off the gas this time. I was a little bit lazy before, not going to the club when I should have, but I have learnt from that and I have to keep going
because we are playing so many tournaments.”
The former World Snooker Champion now feels confident after winning his first ever Masters Snooker event. He has shown his class in the final of 2012 Masters and believes that he will be able to perform in the same fashion at the Corndon Park Golf Club.
