No timeline for Miami Dolphins LB Kevin Burnett after preseason opener miss – NFL News
The Miami Dolphins have refrained from speculating a timeframe for return of starting linebacker Kevin Burnett who missed the team’s preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday due to an unknown injury problem.
Dolphins while providing an update about the status of the LB said he was inactive, and did not elaborate the injury scare he has been through at the moment and if they expect him back for the next game.
Kevin was seen taking part in the team’s warm-ups and training a day earlier, but apparently did not look comfortable and hundred percent.
Dolphins, however, had not ruled him out of the opening game until then, only confirming the news at the pre-game brief chat with some journalists.
A section of media has cited unconfirmed information that the player is suffering from a minor injury scare/scratch but even that report did not throw a light on the player’s injury nature.
The linebacker nevertheless remains on the sidelines and may not be available for the next game if something serious has happened. It will be a major setback to Dolphins’ campaign if the player has any major health or fitness issue.
It is pertinent to mention that Dolphins have already lost their veteran quarterback David Garrard with a knee injury. Although the injury had not come in the preseason’s starter, he requires an arthroscopic surgery to fix the problem. He is expected to
be on the sidelines for two to four weeks.
David is in even more disappointing phase as he had been heading the starting QB competition race and was likely to be handed the ball first, over the incumbent Matt Moore and rookie Ryan Tannehill.
His absence makes the team suffer on the offensive line while Kevin’s departure from the defensive line has aggravated their defence woes as well.
This is not the start that Dolphins were hoping to make to their preseason campaign. They divided plays between Moore and Tannehill during the game against Tampa Bay, and the former apparently performed better than the latter. The team is likely to have
the same arrangement during the preseason until they name the new leader.
