No upset in the quarter-finals of European Men’s team Championships 2012 in Amsterdam
It was certainly a smooth sailing for the top ranked countries as no upset being observed in the quarter-finals of European Men’s team Championships 2012 in Amsterdam.
Denmark, England, Russia and Germany surge into the semi-finals of the event. The semi-finals between these fantastic four, who have booked their tickets to Thomas Cup finals in China also, are going to take place today.
Yesterday, Denmark cornered Poland with great ease to be the first semi-finalist. The Danish shuttlers showed their prime class even in the absence of their fellow World Number four Peter Hoeg Gade.
The first shuttler Jan O Jorgenson unleashed the attack over Poland and hunt his Polish rival Przemyslaw Wacha down with a significant margin of 21-17 and 21-15.
The duo of Mads Conrad-Petersen and Jonas Rasmussen followed the path and raised the lead to 2-0 by beating the Polish Pair Lukasz Moren-Wojciech Szkudlarczyk with the notable margin of 21-14 and 21-14.
The next singles game also belonged to the Denmark as the shuttler Hans-Kristian Vittinghus proved his supremacy against the Polish player Hubert Paczek. The Danish overpowered his rival in just 25 minutes and sealed the Denmark’s victory by scoring 21-13
and 21-8.
Denmark will now meet England, who thrashed Ukraine yesterday.
The British singles shuttler Rajiv Ouseph clinched the first point by beating Ukraine’s Dmytro Zavadsky with 21-15 and 21-15 score on the board.
The second shuttler Carl Baxter edged Valeriy Atrashchenkov with 23-21 and 21-12 and took the lead to 2-0.
Ukrain’s Vladislav Druzchenko fetched the only point of the match being victorious against Ben Beckman with 21-16, 19-21 and 21-13. But his effort went in vain as The British duo Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis snatched the match with their gutsy performance
against Vitaly Konov and Dmytro Zavadsky.
In the second quarter-final of the day Germany put Netherland’s marathon to halt by winning the epic with 3-2 decisive score. The match kept swinging in between the rivals throughout the first four games as the both countries were levelled with 2-2 points.
The German shuttler Marcel Reuter smashed his rival Nick Fransman in fifth consequential game and paved his country’s path to semi-final.
Germany is set to challenge Russia, who made into top four by beating France convincingly with 3-1 margin.
The semi-finalists of European Men’s team Championships have earned their places to Thomas Cup finals in China while the only top three teams of European Women’s team Championships will get the confirm entry in Uber Cup.
The fourth team will have to contest with fifth positioned team of the ongoing Asian Zone qualifying tournament in Macau. The team with higher ranking will go for Uber Cup finals as fourth contender.
