It's just a weird "rule" instated by who-knows-who way back when. I don't hold fast to it, because if you're wearing an outfit that looks best with white shoes, there's no way I'm going to pass on it just because it's October or April. Whatev.

That rule is put up becasue white is mostly a summer color and is ment for summer and late spring, but it's not the law or anything if you feel like wearing white shoes after labour day then go ahead...

It's because white shoes are considered summer-y. Most people don't usually follow it though, now.
