Noble’s Promise, Ravalo, Anak Nakal to head for the Presque Isle Mile on 9 September
Three strong millionaires to fill up the entry list of 14 runners for the $250,000 Presque Isle Mile at the Erie, Pennsylvania, track on 9 September, 2011, and one out of the three could be going in with a victory.
The line up ensures that there are 12 horses that will be on the go and determined to be in the main body list for the race and the rest of the two fall in the eligible list.
First to mention out of the three millionaires would be Kenneth McPeek trained 4-year-old colt, Noble’s Promise. The Kentucky bred loves to finish fifth and the argument is well supported by his stats.
In his last 9 starts, Noble’s Promise has gone on to finish fifth, six times, with two wins and a single third place finish.
The son of Cuvee finished fifth yet again the last time he appeared on the field.
It was at the Saratoga's dirt course under Andy Garcia in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on 7 August, 2011.
On the other hand, there is an older gelding, Ravalo, who hasn’t won a race since 20 November, 2010, although his three starts in 2011 were a bit satisfactory for trainer Donald Barr as the seven year old finished 3rd in his last two encounters.
Once, in the 5 ½ furlong Karl Boyle Memorial Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on 22 June, 2011, and his next racing endeavour was at Monmouth Park where he finished 3rd in the 6 furlong Teddy Drone Stakes.
Son of Mutakddim , out of Momentary Hope by Southern Halo, the seven year old gelding would be looking to turn his season around in jam packed fall season.
Anak Nakal is another six year-old Rudy Rodriguez trained horse who would be looking to shot up his earnings beyond the million mark in the Presque Isle Mile.
Dwelling in option claimers this year, Anak Nakal has a 6th place and a third place to show for himself coming into the race.
With 12 contenders in the main body, the race could turn out to be a cracker if these older milers decide to take it up a notch, come 9 September.
