Well if you want to make contact then why not move and sit with someone that looks like they would be open to do so....

Also if you make eye contact and smile and people, and then they therefore find you a warm, happy person you will probably get them queueing up to sit next to you!

On the other hand, don't worry too much, I am always the one on the plane who gets to sit next to the nutter who wants to talk the whole trip about himself and then says it has been fun!  I would love some of that privacy sometimes!
