Nobody supports my vision!?

Question

I finally figured out what I want to do with me life and feel comfortable enough to pursue it: becoming a Creative Director. My friends and family tell me I'm talented in so many areas but think i'm doing nothing with my life because i'm not doing something that they view me skilled at. In other words they say i'm sitting on my talent.

I'm currently finalizing paperwork to New School University in New York to complete my BA in order to intern.

my friends and family suggest that I stay in the south and network only with black people and not venture out because i'm not welcomed in there world! Huh, how racist is that? I love my black people but the world is a multifaceted place and why should I limit my self to people I can work and have experiences with? My vision is to work for a major Magazine in New York.

I know and am confident in what I want to do but i'm getting any support from anyone. I can validate my self but I would like to receive a cheer up or encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated!

Follow your vision and don't worry about your friends and family.  If you don't go for what you really want in life, you will regret it later on, and you will likely resent your family and friends for holding you back.

Why do you need support from anyone when you are sooooo confident about what you want to do with yourself ? A man climbs a rock face cliff because He wants to, not because anyone else thinks it's a good idea . My advice : don't tell anyone what you need to do, just do it.

man go out their and make something of yourself i think its great and i like to see black people do something cuz our country tries to hold the black race down but i like how your going out their and your gonna get things done, i support you man!! spread your voice!

Go for what you want to do. It seems you can achieve your dream.

Tell your family, if you don't at least have a go at this, then you will be regretting it all your life.
