Noe Gonzalez Alcoba puts his WBC title on the line against surging Adonis Stevenson – Boxing News
Noe Gonzalez Alcoba, the current WBC silver super middleweight champion, is ready to put his title on the line against Adonis Stevenson, the current owner of WBO NABO super middleweight title, in a 12-round bout that will be a part of ESPN’s Friday night
show and will be televised on April 20, 2012.
The ring for the weekly ‘Friday night Fights’ show will be stretched at Bell Centre arena situated in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the event will be promoted by Yvon Michel of GYM Promotions.
Adonis and Noe both will put their respective titles on the line. The Canadian Adonis, who is also the owner of IBF Intercontinental and NABO super middleweight titles, has been in a total 18 bouts.
Stevenson has emerged victorious in a total 17 bouts and lost just one battle to Darnell Boone. Since then the 34-year-old is on a four-bout win streak in fact has evolved into a champion and holds three different titles.
Noe, on the other hand, has been in a total 29 bouts and boasts 28 wins with just one loss to Felix Sturm, the WBA world middleweight champion. Since that loss the 32-year-old has been on a long 14-bout win streak and impressively collected 13 of those wins
by knockout.
Adonis and Noe have been in the same scenario when it comes to public and critic acceptance. Both have been alleged to have fought men who are not powerful, talented, or credible enough to put up a great resilient performance.
In addition, the duo has never got the requisite fame for what they have achieved up till now. It is this reason why the upcoming ESPN show is being dubbed by both as the golden chance to prove the world that they exist in the division and have the ability
to nail almost every pugilist in the division.
The Uruguayan Gonzalez, also known as ‘El Carbonero’, while commenting about his upcoming bout said, “I take care only of my integrity and don’t care what others say. I feel good with what I’ve done. The critics can say what they want, but I still have 13
knockouts since Sturm and I’ve won them all. Stevenson can hit with one hand but me, I hit with two. The difference will be intelligence in the ring.”
At the same time, Noe’s trainer, Ivan Protti, while acknowledging Adonis’ capability, commented, “He has a good capacity to adapt. That will be the difference. We don’t underestimate Stevenson, but we’re confident and have prepared for everything.”
One thing is for sure the bout will be an epic one since no matter what the critics say, both men are title holders and have achieved much in their illustrious career. Moreover, they do possess their respective abilities which can prove that the bout will
mesmerise the Canadian boxing fanatics.
