Noemie Thomas earns Women’s 200m butterfly: Day one – 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals
Noemie Thomas of VAND earned gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre in Edmonton on Thursday, July 19.
Thomas demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the distant butterfly discipline and surfaced on the finishing blockade as the first position holder.
With her alluring efforts, she remained one and a half body length behind and tapped the finishing blockade for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 12.59 seconds.
The champion remained 1.29 seconds faster from her following swimmer, Brenna Maclean of WVOSC, who finished second in the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 13.88 seconds.
Similarly, Maclean was chased by Breanne Siwicki of MANTA, who stayed 1.22 seconds faster from her foregoing finisher and earned bronze medal of the discipline by completing her race in a time of 2 minutes and 15.10 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Lindsay Delmar of UCSC, who remained only 0.06 seconds slower from overpowering her former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.16 seconds for fourth position.
Delmar was trailed by Emily Overholt of WVOSC, who suffered a deficit of 0.85 seconds from her preceding finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.01 seconds for fifth position.
The 14-year-old Overholt was traced by Kendra Chernoff of U of A Swim Club, who stayed almost half a second slower from her foregoing competitor and settled on the finishing blockade as sixth fastest swimmer with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.49 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Devon Bibault of KEYANO, who remained 1.05 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.54 seconds.
Bibault was trailed by Elodie Delamare of PPO, who stayed 0.08 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 17.62 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Thomas was delighted with her accomplishment in the 200m discipline and articulated that she would try to achieve the same at forthcoming tournaments.
