Noemie Thomas wins Women’s 100m butterfly gold – Junior Pan Pacific Championships
Noemie Thomas of Canada won gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on third day of the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday, August 25.
Thomas entered the playoff as top fastest swimmer and with her astonishing efforts, she faced no difficulty in securing gold medal of the event. She continued her laudable efforts throughout the two-lap discipline and made her way to the wall for gold medal.
With her immaculate efforts, Thomas remained marginally ahead of her toughest challenger and rushed her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal with a timing of 59.02 seconds.
The champion was chased by Brianna Throssell of Australia, who was 0.34 seconds apart and stepped on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 59.36 seconds.
Throssell was trailed by Rino Hosoda of Japan, who stayed 0.13 seconds behind and completed the podium by securing bronze medal of the event with an effort of 59.49 seconds.
Subsequently, Hosoda was followed by Sophia Batchelor of New Zealand, who stayed just one arm-stroke behind and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 59.78 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Katie Kinnear of USA, who stayed more than a half body length behind and hit the finishing blockade with a timing of 1 minute and 00.34 seconds.
Kinnear was traced by Celina Li of USA, who suffered a deficit of 0.15 seconds from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 00.49 seconds for sixth position.
Similarly, Li was trailed by Jurina Shiga of Japan, who stayed 0.44 seconds apart and clocked a time of 1 minute and 00.93 seconds for seventh position.
Shiga was traced by Ellen O’Rourke of Australia, who failed to upset any of her challengers, as she stayed 0.60 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 01.53 seconds for eighth position.
Thomas was delighted with her gruelling effort in the double lap discipline and received her accolade after the session.
