Noen lighting?

I have neon lights that are turned on by the cigarette lighter adapter. Can I cut that part off and just plug the negative and positive wiring to the amplifier or would that not work?

  1. It depends on what part of the amplifier you are talking about. If you mean the wires that run from the battery and the ground to the amp it should be fine. However make sure you don't connect it to the wires coming from the amp that go to the sub. Your neons will most likely explode.

  2. You can but you'll have to do a bit of modification.

The REM control on the amp will have to come off and connect to one side of a coil on a relay. You would then ground the other side of the relay coil.

You would then run a wire from the positive connection on the amp to the common (Com)  connection on the relay.

From the (NO) Normally Open connection on the relay run a wire to the REM connection on the amp AND the positive feed to the neons.

Ground the ground feed to the neons and you're done.

The amp and neons will come on together.

Wired any other way will result in the REM circuitry in the head unit to die.

  3. There are several way you can hook up your neon lighting to only come on with your car audio.

you could like above hook them into your pos/neg of the amp...but they would be on all the time...also draining your battery.

or you could hook the neg of the neons to a solid ground and  hook the pos of the neon to the blue remote turn on wire of the deck( remote -switch 12v of amp)....as to turn on the neon only when the stereo is turned on.
