Noh Seung-Yul is eyeing the European Tour
Noh Seung-Yul cracked the news that he is eyeing the top 50 spot of the Official World Golf Ranking, thereby he will be seen in Europe next season.
The 19-year-old has recently earned a European Tour exemption after winning the Malaysian Open this year and is all set to make his way into Europe. The South Korean is the leader of the Asian Tour's Order of Merit and has played in couple of events at the
European tour, but he faced discrimination from the media‘s side. Despite, he is ready to test his luck in Europe.
Noh discussed his problems of travelling and courses with the media. He said, “During mid-season I got my European Tour card and being in Europe I had to up my game and play better players. I was in awe and stumbled a bit as I needed to get used to the different
courses and travel. Coming back to Asia, I think I have regained my early season form. The biggest issue for me right now is not form but conditioning”.
He further added that the whole process was a grind for him that pushed him towards improvement and currently he was working on his strength and stamina to gear up for the challenge that was coming his way in the future.
The teenager is the source of high hopes for the Asian Tour chief Kyi Hla Han. He considers Noh as the next Tiger Woods and the 19-year-old has a fair idea that he will have to put in extra effort to meet the expectations of his people. In order to learn
more, Noh needed to gather more exposure, which he can only get if he expands his wings out of the Asian Tour.
Commenting on this issue Noh said, “My plan for next year was to try the PGA Tour qualifying school, but that has changed. Right now, I am trying to crack the top 50 in the World and by doing so I will try to get into the US events through the World rankings.
Europe could be more my base, but it doesn't mean I will neglect the Asian Tour. During mid-season or early season though, I may stay in Europe rather than Asia".
Noh will be teeing off in Kuala Lumpur this week for the CIMB Asia-Pacific Classic, which is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and Asian Tour in Southeast Asia, with a huge cast of US-based players.
