Noh surprise leader at the Deutsche Bank Open
Tiger Woods may have shot his lowest round in three years but it was the South Korean Seung-yul Noh who grabbed the headlines by leading the second playoff at the TPC Boston. Noh shot a stunning 9-under 62 with nine birdies. It was a flawless display of golfing skills by the young South Korean.
More amazing is the fact that Noh is playing his first season on the PGA Tour. This is his rookie year and leading the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald is a pretty amazing achievement.
Noh started the round with a par-birdie-par and then struck four straight birdies. He then consolidated his lead at the last two holes by shooting consecutive birdies again.
Following Noh is Chris Kirk who had a brilliant round as well. He just needed 23 putts to finish off his first round. Kirk also eagled the 18th hole, ending the day with 8-under 63.
"Some people say Kevin Na, like, `Go Kevin,'" Noh said
Noh is one of those players who have come from Q-school in December. He has worked with some guys as well after making a shift from the Asian Tour but this has been his strongest performance so far.
"Everything good today," 21-yearl-old said.
Tiger Woods shot an impressive 7-under 64 to end the day at T3. He stands a good chance now after shooting an excellent round. The best thing that happened was that Tiger had the right putter in his kit.
He putted beautifully on Friday and this is a good sign for him and his fans, because he has lost many tournaments due to his poor putting.
The Barclays winner, Nick Watney found it tough going to the TPC Boston. He shot an over par score and never really looked in control of his game from the start.
Brandt Snedeker had an ‘okay’ round, as he finished with 69. Snedeker is looking to impress the Ryder Cup captain, Davis Love III. For that he will need to do better in the next three rounds.
Rory McIlroy found it tough initially but then recovered well, ending up with 6-under 65.
