Question:

Noise from honda accord 2005 brakes?

Hi,

For some days i have been hearing a noise coming out whenever i apply the brakes on my accord. I am the first owner of this car and has been driving it for past 3.5 years.

I took it to a local body shop and asked them to inspect it. They said that the brakes pad look fine and some level of sound can be expected. I am not fully convinced by his answer. Do any of you have similar experience and what did you do?

Thanks

  1. yeah dont take it to a body shop for not body work... just buy some new brake pads (20$) at your local advanced auto parts or w/e u have and jack your car up and put them on... if u dont know what you are doing pay a local shop to do it for you... you shouldnt pay more than 20 or 30 dollars... if even that.. i dont take my cars to shops so i dont know what itll cost but def shouldnt be over 30...

  2. You need to describe the noise.

  3. Taking to a body shop won't help let you know if your brakes are bad.  It's a body shop.  It sounds like that it;s just the warning strip, which is a thin piece of metal  to let you know when your brake pads are getting low.  You should be good for a Little bit, but i would take it to a professional shop where the specialize in that kind of repair work.

  4. It sounds like you need new pads.  The wear indicator has a high pitched sound to tell you, you need new brake pads.  There really shouldn't be any level of sound with good pads, OEM brake pads usually last up to 5 years... but it all depends on your driving style, how much you drive, etc.
